      第二十八届世界遗产委员会在中国苏州举行。「基尔山脉的神圣遗址和朝圣之路（Sacred Sites and Plgrimage Routes in the Kil Mountain Range）」被列入新的联合国教科文组织的【世界遗产清单】其中包括三个遗址-吉野大峰（Yoshino Omine），熊野三山（Kumano Sanzan）和高野山（Koyasan），以及连接这些遗址的朝圣之路。由此，围绕着这个主题的特别展览在名古屋和在东京展开。
      吉野大峰（Yoshino Omine）是日本古来的山岳佛教信仰、以密教为主等影响成立的宗派——（山伏者）修验道 (Shugendō)的圣地，其创始人是役小角 (Enno Gyōja/ Enno-Ozuns）。神道教植根于日本古老的自然崇拜传统，佛教从中国和朝鲜半岛传入日本。而熊野三山（Kumano Sanzan）则是神道教与佛教的融合之地。高野山（Koyasan）是高宝大史（Kobo-Daishi / Kukai）建立的深奥佛教真言宗（Shingon Buddhism）的主要遗址。
      展览精选了来自这些宝地的约300件珍贵文物，其中包括29件国家级珍宝和83件重要文化财产。得以在舒适的“现代生活”展览空间中一览这些秘藏在山庙、神社和机构里供奉的宝物，机会实为殊圣，在尚未有机会亲自踏上朝圣之旅体验真正的“神圣文化”的前提下，观众得以了解这些圣地、朝圣者的古老信仰，以升华对宗教的理解，并对当下的“俗世生活”得到属于自己的一分“参悟”。
