Covers: The book (Folio) is bound in cloth with gilt lettering pieces to the front cover and spine, with blind stamped bands top and bottom of the covers; some soiling and staining to the boards, including food and liquid splashes, shelf wear to edges, scuffs to corners; spine is baggy with shelf wear top and tail; joints are rubbed though to holes in places. Inside: Bookplate of Frederick A Wood of Somerset to the front paste down, along with a large white sticker and codes and numbers in ink and pencil; library sticker of Weston-Super-Mare Public Library to the facing end paper and to the reverse side of some of the plates; small round, purple library stamp to the lower margin of the title pages. Text and illustrations are clean with just occasional minor brown blemishes, marks and handling marks to margins. The book is complete with a total of 62 numbered leaves of plate, in black and white, or brown, as called for (including title pages). All pages and plates are free of any rips or tears. The front inner hinge is a mess and coming away from the text block at the top, rear inner hinge is also a mess. There are several pages pulling hard at the gutter, several straining hard at the gutter and some gapping at the gutter.
