Anita Gerlach is highly regarded as a contemporary artist. She has an unusual talent for blending color upon color which infuses additional dimension to her works. This overplay of color creates marvelous texture and depth. Her work has received outstanding recognition.

Anita lives just northwest of the Los Angeles harbor where the rolling hills of Rancho Palos Verdes meet the Pacific Ocean. Looking across the expanse of ocean one sees the mountains and the casino nestled in the bay of Avalon, Catalina Island. The hills of Rancho Palos Verdes are dotted with color of yellow and purple heralding fields of spring wild flowers. Horses and riders make their way along the winding trails of Roıling Hills. On a windy day yachts are seen sailing out of the Los Angeles harbor and along the coast. These memorable scenes, Anita says, are her inspirations!

Gerlach uses the radiant interplay of light and shadow when producing her landscapes. One can just imagine sitting by the cascading waterfall and feeling the cool mist in the air. She has great focus to detail in her animal creations. She has the uncanny ability to capture the spirit of her subject. Step into the shadow of a magnificent white stallion. Feel the warmth of his body. Gerlach is work has the ability to transport you to the destination of her inspiration.

Inside her studio, glass windows and doors surround her on three sides. The ocean and Catalina are on the other. Her mind is bursting with enthusiasm and creative plans for her projects in progress. Three or four canvases are on easels in the early stages of development.

Anita Gerlach's brush strokes incorporate realism with a touch of impressionism. She has won accolades and awards. Museums have proudly hung her work. Owning a Gerlach painting is a symbol of distinction.

Anita’s latest collection "Wonders across the United States ıı has elicited much praise and interest. Several paintings of Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon, the expansive Pacific Ocean and Sand Dunes National Park are but a few.

Anita savors the comments from her "fans" as they tell stories relating to a painting they find particularly interesting. Once when showing her works in Catalina a gentleman, after minutes of contemplation over a painting commented, 'The seen that wave on the other side of the island!" A woman was heard to comment with fond reminiscence in her voice, "I spent my honeymoon there!"

Gerlach can remember spending countless hours watching her father create images with such fervor. He taught her, through his art, to use realism with a splash of color and imagination. Anita credits her father for encouraging her, the budding young artist, to follow her passion for art. Her realistic work is modified to make a stronger painting, as well as one of persuasion.

Gerlach’s paintings are in many private as well as public collections across the United States. Originals and giclees are available upon request. Commissions are welcomed.
