张慈贇，born in hanghai in 1949 zhang ciyun (peter) graduated from jilin normal univerity prc with a major in englih and later from tanford univerity in the united tate with a mater degree in journalim. ince 1980 he ha worked for everal newpaper and magazine in both beijing and hanghai. alo he once erved in the general office of the minitry of munication a an interpreter and the information office of hanghai municipality a it deputy general director. an acclaimed tranlator reporter and editor mr.zhang ha helped bring into etence four englihlanguage newpaper on the chinee mainlandnamely china daily beijing weekend hanghai tar and hanghai daily. he i now the editorinchief emeritu of hanghai daily and an executive council member of tranlation aociation of china.he ha tranlated and cotranlated more than a dozen book and a large amount of document inclutrange torie of liao zhai tudio and the englih verion of the baic law of the hong kong pe adminitrative region. he ha alo publihed many englih and chinee article and thee in newpaper and magazine both in china and overea.
