　　Prof.NiuhasbeenthefounderofChina'ssustainabilitysciences.ln1984，hewasasChinesesnecialisttoinvolveinthedraftingofTheBrundtlandReportOurCommon，Future.In1994，hepublishedthefirsttheoreticalworkAn，In，troduction，toSustain，ableDevelopmentinChina.Uptonow，thebookhasstillbeenamajorcontributiontoChinesesustainability，andasthetextbookor/andmajorreferenceofsustainabilityfieldinuniversities.Prof.NiuhasbeenthedirectorandchiefscientistofnationalsustainabledevelopmentstrategyprogramofChinasince1992.Hehasleadedtostudyandeditannualreport"China'sSustainableDevelopmentReport"whichisthefirstnationalsustainabilitystrategicreportinChinafrom1999tonow.Heistheexecutiveeditor-in-chiefofTheOverviewofChin，a'sSustain，ableDevel，oprnenIthasbeencalled"NationalencyclopediaofChina'ssustainabilityscience"included20-volume）.Thegreatworkwontheauthoritative"2010ChineseGovernmentPublicationPrize".
