纳西族的传统文化与“山林”有密切关系，因为他们世居的丽江就是横断山脉的一部分。与世界上很多古老文明一样，纳西族“山林”观念，对人的欲望，特别是对性和财富的欲望，倾向于。但是，与那些主张尽量欲、压缩自我的文化不同，纳西族传统文化承认甚至倡导对大自然的合理索取。解开丽江纳西族的地方性知识与纳西先民“山林”观念（该书“上编”）、与现代“科学”这种普适性知识袭入（实际上，科学仍然是一种起源于欧洲的“地方性知识”，详见该书第四章）两大线索的脉络（该书“下编”），将是该书的目标。

作者简介：

沈云都，东南大学人文学院科技伦理学方向博士后。云南农业大学人文社会科学学院副院长，副教授，科学技术史专业硕士研究生导师。云南省高等教育学会理事，云南省科学技术哲学研究会理事。在CSSCI来源期刊如《马克思主义与现实》《高等教育研究》《道德与文明》《江苏社会科学》《浙江社会科学》《学术界》《思想战线》《云南社会科学》《优选教育展望》等发表学术论文30余篇，一篇论文获人大复印资料全文转载。
