      《官话 英汉字典及翻译手册》 （English-Chinese Dictionary of the Standard Chinese Spoken Language and Handbook for Translators） 中英文双语版  赫美玲Karl E Hemeling  编著 1916年版本。

      本书不仅是中国官话内容的词典，也包括新单词、科学、技术、军事、海军、传教士、宗教、商业、政治、法律、文件、书籍、报纸等分支中使用的术语, 以及翻译中所需的其他表达。虽然没有力求详尽，但它包含了通常需要的大多数表达。它的主要应用是在商业和科学工作中，对所有人，无论是初学者还是高级学者，无论是官员、商人、工程师、传教士还是教师，都是准确和有用的。虽然该词典最初是为了方便外国人翻译成中文用的，但它同样也可以很好地用于中国的英语读物。

      这部词典是根据已故的G.C.斯坦特1905年出版的《从英语到普通话口语词典》改编的。它是作者从事了5年多的中国海事海关督察长的中国秘书基础上编著的。来自南北普通话地区的十位中国学者协助了这项工作。为适应清政府对翻译人员的培训和双语词典制作的需要，Hemeling采取了更为实际的编著方法。他的《英汉字典及翻译手册》标志着汉语科学术语规范化又向前迈进了一步。

      赫美玲（Karl Ernst Georg Hemeling，1878年－1925年），德国人，又名赫墨龄，中国海关官员。赫美玲于光绪二十四年（1898年）来到中国，先后在汕头、南京、汉口、上海等地海关担任过帮办、副税务司、税务司等职。光绪三十一年（1905年）曾作为盛宣怀的秘书参与修订《中德通商条约》的谈判。1908年时获四品衔。中华民国成立后，于民国三年（1914年）获得北洋政府颁发的三等嘉禾勋章。第一次世界大战期间，段祺瑞政府于民国六年（1917年）加入协约国一方并对德宣战，此后赫美玲被撤职，并于次年回到德国。民国十年（1921年）曾再次来到中国经商。
      赫美玲主要出版了以下两本书：
      《南京官话》（The Nanking Kuan Hua）
      《英汉字典及翻译手册》（English-Chinese Dictionary of the Standard Chinese Spoken Language, and Handbook for Translators）
