画册收集了夏加尔创作第一幅作品到最后一副作品。This catalog accompanying the retrospective at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels shows the entire artistic career of Chagall, from the first paintings in 1908 to the last monumental works of the 80s. The major themes dear to the artist are well approached, such as the Jewish culture, the iconography of the Jewish village or the popular tradition, but far from being limited to this, the exhibition also highlights the discovery of light and the treatment of color or on particular subjects, such as 17th century literature - and specifically La Fontaine -, theater and opera.
The Russian period, so important in the artist's career, when his personal style distinguishes him from an artistic movement imbued by the Cubist Revolution, is treated with care and will once again mark the artist's originality.
